Caring For Your Beautiful, New Volume Lashes

Getting volume lashes can be an incredible experience. It's so nice to look at yourself in the mirror and have your eyes pop. However, once you get those volume lashes, you'll need to take care of them. This can take some getting used to, but as long as you follow the tips below, you can expect good results.

Don't wear mascara

While some people do apply mascara to their lash extensions, there's really no reason to do so. Volume lashes already call a lot of attention to themselves, and they should be bold and expressive without mascara. Applying mascara puts unnecessary pressure on the lashes, which could cause them to fall off sooner. Cleaning off the mascara is also hard on the lashes. If you're worried you'll be tempted to apply mascara to your volume lashes, then just toss the mascara out.

Use a special eyelash cleaner

Don't use your general face wash to clean your eyelashes and the area around your eye. Instead, purchase a specialized eye makeup remover that is safe to use on volume lash extensions. Your lash technician should be able to recommend a good product. These products won't break down the lash glue or cause the lashes to dry out and fray. Unfortunately, your general face wash or a standard makeup remover might cause this reaction.

Sleep on a silk pillowcase

Eyelash extensions — especially volume ones — have a tendency to get caught on things like pillowcases and detach. However, this is far less likely to happen if you buy a silk pillowcase since the eyelashes will slide over the silk more easily. Silk pillowcases are a little more expensive than those made from cotton and other materials, but they're a worthwhile investment because they'll help your lash extensions last longer.

Get regular fills

Don't wait until your eyelashes look sparse to get a fill. Rather, contact your lash technician as soon as you notice you've lost a few lashes. Or just go in every few weeks for a refill, regardless of what your lashes look like. This way, you can maintain a more consistent look rather than always having fluctuations in how thick and dense your lashes are.

Volume lashes can be part of an incredible transformation. They are not difficult to care for, but you do need to take a few steps to keep them in good shape. Start with the suggestions above, and you'll be on the right track. For more information about volume lashes, contact a cosmetics service.
